Flight Tracking

DMK to URT: Bangkok to Surat Thani Flight Status

TrackMyWings Team5 min read

A dmk urt search usually comes down to one question: who actually flies this route today, and how do you read a status board on it without second-guessing every minute of difference. In our route data, two carriers are on record for Don Mueang (DMK) to Surat Thani (URT): Nok Air and Thai AirAsia. This guide reads our DMK to URT route page alongside the airport pages for Don Mueang (DMK) and Surat Thani (URT), and covers who operates the pair and how to read a board on it honestly.

Who operates DMK to URT

Our route dataset carries two rows for the DMK-URT pair, one per carrier:

Carrier codeAirlineRoute pair
DDNok AirDMK to URT
FDThai AirAsiaDMK to URT

Both are Thai domestic operators flying out of Don Mueang, Bangkok's secondary airport and the low-cost-carrier hub, into Surat Thani in the south of the country. That is the operator picture our data supports: two named carriers, no more and no fewer.

About Don Mueang and Surat Thani airports

Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) sits north of central Bangkok and has run as the city's dedicated low-cost-carrier airport since Suvarnabhumi opened, which is why both DMK-URT operators are budget carriers rather than the national flag carrier. Domestic departures from Don Mueang tend to use a different terminal flow than the airport's small international side, so it is worth checking which terminal your booking confirmation names rather than assuming.

Surat Thani Airport (URT) serves the city of Surat Thani on Thailand's southern Gulf coast, the mainland gateway most travellers use before a ferry connection to Koh Samui or Koh Phangan. It is a single small terminal, not a hub with connecting traffic, so arriving passengers generally clear the building quickly and move straight on to a taxi, a hotel transfer or a ferry pier transfer desk. Neither airport is built for long-haul connections; both exist primarily to move domestic and short regional traffic efficiently rather than to route travellers onward to a third country.

How to read a status board on this route

A status board, whether it is at the airport or in an app, is only ever as good as three separate things lining up: the scheduled time the airline filed, the flight number on your ticket, and who actually operates the aircraft behind that number. On a route with two carriers, that third point matters more than usual. If you booked through a travel site or a codeshare partner, the flight number printed on your itinerary may not match the number the operating airline uses on its own board.

When a status changes, it almost always starts upstream, with whichever aircraft is due to arrive and turn around for this sector, not with the departure board itself. A short domestic hop like DMK to URT is usually flown by an aircraft that has already made one or two earlier legs that same day, so a delay on this sector often traces back to a knock-on effect from an earlier flight rather than anything happening at either Don Mueang or Surat Thani. If a board shows a delay with no obvious local cause, that is the first place to look.

It also helps to separate a scheduled time from an estimated time. The scheduled time is what the airline filed when the timetable was built; the estimated time is what operations currently expects given where the actual aircraft is. Airports and apps do not always label the two consistently, so a number that looks unchanged for hours is not necessarily a sign that nothing has happened, and a number that jumps by a few minutes is not necessarily an error.

None of that is specific to Bangkok or to this pair. It is the same reading exercise on every short domestic hop with more than one carrier, and it is worth doing before you assume a board is wrong just because two sources disagree by a few minutes.

What we can and cannot tell you here

TrackMyWings™ is a flight tracking platform in development. A private beta shipped on 2026-08-24, Android only, on the Play internal testing track. There is no fixed public launch date. A live map, gate and status alerts and a shared family view are planned for launch rather than shipped today.

On coverage, the honest technical picture is that community ADS-B is ground-receiver based: it is dense over land near populated receiver networks and thin to absent over open water. A domestic Thai hop like this one sits over land for the whole leg, which is the friendlier case for that kind of network, but that is a statement about how the technology works in general, not a performance figure for our product on this specific route.

Common questions

Which airlines fly from DMK to URT?

Our route data records two carriers for this pair: Nok Air (DD) and Thai AirAsia (FD), both operating out of Don Mueang.

What airports does this route use?

Don Mueang International Airport (DMK), Bangkok's low-cost-carrier hub, on the Surat Thani end Surat Thani Airport (URT), the mainland gateway to the Gulf coast and its islands.

Where should I check the real schedule?

The operating airline's own booking or check-in channel is the source for a specific day's schedule. Our route and airport pages are built to answer who flies a pair, not what time today's flight leaves.
