Flight Tracking

Why There Is No Scheduled Flight from Morristown (MMU) to Cincinnati (CVG)

TrackMyWings Team6 min read

If you are looking for flights from MMU to CVG, no airline operates a scheduled one. Morristown Municipal Airport in New Jersey carries the value no in the scheduled_service field of the OurAirports database, the same open dataset our airport pages are generated from. Cincinnati Northern Kentucky (CVG) is a large airport with scheduled service, and Morristown Municipal has none at all. Anyone flying that pair is on a charter or a private aircraft, and those movements publish no airline timetable to look up. If you are the one booking, the scheduled flights to Cincinnati leave from Newark, about 24 km from Morristown in a straight line.

Why there are no scheduled flights from MMU to CVG

The evidence is a field in a public dataset rather than an opinion of ours. OurAirports publishes a row per airport with a scheduled_service flag, and here is how the three airports in this question read in the copy we hold:

ICAOIATAAirportTypeScheduled service
KMMUMMUMorristown Municipalmedium_airportno
KCVGCVGCincinnati Northern Kentucky Internationallarge_airportyes
KEWREWRNewark Liberty Internationallarge_airportyes

medium_airport is a size classification rather than a service one, so Morristown is a decent-sized field that happens to sell no airline seats. And "no scheduled service" is narrower than "no flights". Charter and private flying is a separate category that the scheduled_service field does not describe at all. What none of it publishes is a timetable you can search, which is why a booking search for this pair comes back with an itinerary that starts at a different airport.

Why our own MMU to CVG route page exists anyway

Search our site and you will find our MMU to CVG route page, plus the same pair in the other direction. That deserves an explanation rather than a shrug.

Our route directory is generated from OpenFlights, an open route dataset. That dataset carries an MMU to CVG row under the carrier code P1. OpenFlights has no airline record matching P1, and neither does our own airline table of 992 carriers. The result is visible on the page itself: it reports zero airlines and lists none. You can check that in four seconds, so we say it here first.

Three more limits on those pages, stated plainly:

  • The distance we show, 895 km for this pair, is a great-circle calculation between the two airport coordinates. It is not the distance an aircraft would actually fly.
  • The frequency field on every route in our data is the constant 7, written by our own generator across all 67,279 rows. It is not a measured weekly count.
  • The route table is a point-in-time snapshot, generated once and not rebuilt since April 2026. It still names at least one carrier that has stopped operating, which tells you the snapshot is old without telling you exactly how old.

That leaves the directory as a map of which airport pairs have ever appeared in an open dataset, which is a more modest thing than a timetable.

Where the scheduled Cincinnati flights leave from

Several airports near Morristown carry a CVG route row in our data. These three are the nearest. Distances are great-circle between airports, not driving distance.

FromGreat-circle distance from MMURoute pageAirlines named in our route data
Newark Liberty (EWR)24 kmNewark (EWR) to Cincinnati (CVG)Delta Air Lines, United Airlines
LaGuardia (LGA)46 kmLaGuardia (LGA) to Cincinnati (CVG)Delta Air Lines
New York JFK56 kmJFK to Cincinnati (CVG)American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and one carrier that has since stopped operating

Newark is both the closest and the largest, which makes it the obvious substitution if someone told you "we are flying out of Morristown" and meant "we are flying out of New Jersey". Newark Liberty (EWR) and Cincinnati Northern Kentucky (CVG) both have airport pages on our site.

Because those airline names come from an old snapshot, confirm the operator with the airline or your booking before you rely on it. That caveat applies to every route page on the site.

If someone really is flying out of Morristown

This is the case that matters most for the person waiting. A charter or private departure from Morristown Municipal (MMU) has no published airline schedule behind it, so there is no board to read and no flight number to save. Both the departure time and the arrival time come from the traveller.

Our MMU airport page will not fill that gap either. Departure and arrival listings on the site are derived only for routes whose airline resolves to a real carrier record, and all four MMU rows in our data carry P1, which never resolves. Asking the person flying remains the accurate method, which is unsatisfying and also true.

What we can and cannot tell you here

TrackMyWings™ is a flight tracking platform in development. A private beta shipped on 2026-08-24, Android only, on the Play internal testing track. There is no fixed public launch date. A live map, gate and status alerts and a shared family view are planned for launch rather than shipped today.

What is useful right now is the directory: airport and route pages built from the open datasets described above, with their limits written down rather than hidden. On coverage, the honest technical picture is that community ADS-B is ground-receiver based, so it is dense over land near populated receiver networks and thin to absent over water. For a New Jersey to Ohio flight that is not the binding limit. The binding limit here is that an unscheduled departure publishes nothing to follow in the first place.

Common questions

Can I fly from Morristown to Cincinnati?

Not on a scheduled airline. MMU is recorded with no scheduled service in OurAirports. Charter and private operations are a separate category, and they publish no airline schedule.

Which airport should I use instead?

Newark Liberty (EWR) is the nearest large airport with a Cincinnati route in our data, about 24 km from Morristown in a straight line. Our page for that pair is /route/ewr-cvg.

Why does TrackMyWings show an MMU to CVG route at all?

Because the route directory is a snapshot of an open route dataset, and that dataset carries the pair under a carrier code with no matching airline record. The page can tell you the pair exists in the data and roughly how far apart the airports are. It cannot tell you who flies it, when, or whether anyone does.
