Live Flight Tracking
Live flight positions on an interactive map, planned for launch.
Live Flight Tracking is planned for the TrackMyWings launch: live flight positions on an interactive world map, built for travellers and for the people waiting for them.
TrackMyWings will read aircraft positions from community ADS-B networks, the ground receivers that pick up the position signal an aircraft broadcasts.
Coverage will follow how that technology works: dense over land near populated receiver networks, and thin to absent over oceans. A flight far from a receiver will not appear until it comes back into range.
Search is planned by flight number, tail number or route, and a flight page will show the position, trajectory and estimated arrival of a flight a receiver can hear.
For now the app is in private beta: Android only, on the Play internal track, running on seeded data rather than live positions.
