Aircraft Tracking

Aircraft Tracking lets you follow a specific aircraft — by its registration number (tail number) — across its entire day of operations, regardless of what flight it's currently operating. This is a feature beloved by aviation enthusiasts and incredibly useful for travelers who want to understand if their aircraft is running late before the airline even assigns it to their flight.

Every commercial aircraft has a unique registration number: VT-INZ for an IndiGo A320, N4XXUA for a United 777, G-EUMA for a British Airways A320. These registrations are tracked continuously via ADS-B. Enter any registration number into TrackMyWings and you'll see the aircraft's current position, its full flight history for the day (every leg it's flown), and where it's headed next.

The practical application for passengers: if you know which aircraft is assigned to your flight (visible in the flight detail view), you can track that aircraft's previous leg. If it's currently 45 minutes late landing in Mumbai, your DEL–BOM flight that uses that same aircraft is going to be at least 45 minutes late too — long before IndiGo makes any official announcement. You're seeing the delay coming.
